Find My Child

Love in Flood

Posted by P on 20 September 2011

Burma is a place of extremes, and chief among them is the weather. Love Children's Home is situated on a lake, which makes for an interesting experience in itself, and this year the monsoon rains dumped more than normal on this part of the world after a few years of inadequate rainfall. Contrast the photo below, which was taken in 2009 when I had to hike to miles to the home because the lake was so low, to the second which was taken last week.

Many of the children are ill due to the constantly damp conditions, their play area is unusable and the building on the right is likely to be flooded by now. The children may have to be temporarily relocated until conditions improve. In addition to that, the fish ponds that were prepared and stocked earlier in the year have had to be built up with four feet of mud to stop the fish escaping.

We will need to raise funds for rebuilding, temporary re-housing and for further works to the fish ponds, so please consider the plight of the twenty-five children who live here and help us to help them. You can now donate to Orphan's Tear Special Gifts Fund (and all other Heaven's Family funds) by credit or debit card via our secure server here
