History
Thank you for your interest in the history of Orphan’s Tear (UK). After sponsoring a number of orphans for a time, I had the opportunity to visit Myanmar (Burma) in 2008 and was able to visit many of the orphanages that are supported through the work of Heaven's Family. After eight years of work in that country that ministry now helps over thirty orphanages, with others waiting in the hope that sponsors might be found for their children. To try to further the work, Orphan's Tear (UK) was formed in January 2009 and we are currently assisting five orphanages in Myanmar that are overseen by dedicated Christians who provide caring Christian nurture. Our visits to Myanmar help to cement the relationships we had built in order to best serve the children.
The greatest need is for the day-to-day costs of taking care of children. Can you imagine trying to take care of a family with fifty children? Even in a very poor nation like Myanmar where most people live on less than two dollars a day, twenty children adds up to a big expense.
So we determined that we would try to find people like you who would sponsor one child through a gift of £15 per month, something just about anyone in the UK can afford. Because all our administrative costs are paid by our parent ministry, Heaven's Family, £15 can actually provide food, clothing, and school fees for one orphan in Myanmar for one month.
In the months and years ahead, we hope that many more children in Myanmar and around the world will find the care they are praying for from compassionate sponsors like you.
